About Wildflower Design Studios

Shannon Lucas-Westrum artist, Wildflower Design Studios

Shannon believes the motto:

“Jack of all trades, master of none,
Certainly better than a master of one,”

is an apt description for not only her artwork, which is a combination of many different types if media, but also a great way to experience life!

Art is inspired by life.  As a lifelong student of the creative process, Shannon’s art is a combination of her fields of interest.  She has studied weaving, beading, painting, drawing, warm and cold glass work, metallurgy, collage and a many fiber arts.  She is also active in many community projects, works at Bemidji Building Center, and is raising a young family.  You see evidence of all of this in her work. Her most recent pieces started as a way to inspire people to see that it’s always ok to experiment and that art can be made from anything! You will see many expected elements in Shannon’s work: paint, canvas, wood, etc.  You will also see the unexpected: bottle caps, wire, plastic banding, vinyl records, and more! Some of our best work is a surprise.

Shannon also teaches a workshops through Wildflower Design Studios, Region 2 Arts Council and Bemidji Community Education. She is also the organizer for the November Opener Art Festival in Bemidji, MN.
